Vietnamese businessman Viet Nguyen Dinh Tuan is the anonymous buyer who acquired the world’s largest whisky bottle, known as the Intrepid, for approximately $1.4 million at an auction in Edinburgh, Scotland. This massive whisky bottle stands at 5 feet 11 inches and contains 32-year-old Macallan single malt Scotch.
Viet, who already possesses the world’s largest cognac bottle and the oldest whisky bottle, added the Intrepid to his collection. His passion for collecting rare spirits has spanned decades, and his collection is valued at approximately $200 million. Notably, his collection includes the 1926 “Fine and Rare” Macallan.
The Intrepid whisky bottle was named in honor of 11 pioneering British explorers, including figures like Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. The bottle’s acquisition was inspired by these explorers’ record-breaking achievements.
Daniel Monk of Rosewin Holdings, who named the Intrepid, described Viet’s collection as “a whisky and cognac enthusiast’s paradise.” Monk celebrated the opportunity to witness the Intrepid displayed among Viet’s remarkable collection and acknowledged Viet’s role in preserving whisky history.
